Fabian Van Boxem holds a master’s degree in art history from UCLouvain (2018) and is a certified art history instructor from the same university (2019). He also holds an interuniversity master’s degree in the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage buildings (2024). While working on his master’s thesis, he studied a complex located at 122 Rue de Flandre (Brussels). This architectural archaeology study documented the site’s evolution from the late medieval period (14th–16th centuries) to the present day. Afterwards, Fabian joined the DIVA research group and benefited from an agreement between ULiège and urban.brussels (the Brussels Regional Administration) to expand on this initial study and produce a comprehensive excavation report. Since October 2025, Fabian has held an F.R.S.-FNRS research fellowship to conduct a dissertation project focusing on the evolution, uses, and functions of the fireplace in Brussels between the 15th century and the first half of the 19th century. This dissertation will be supervised by Profs. Philippe Sosnowska (ULiège) and Caroline Heering (UCLouvain).
