Aurore Mathys holds a Master's degree in Art history and archaeology (with a focus on archaeometry and prehistory) from the University of Liège (BE). She also has a Bachelor's degree in computer graphics (focused on 3D modeling) from the Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard (BE). She has been working since 2012 for the Royal Museum for Central Africa (BE) and since 2013 for the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences as well, splitting her time between both institutions. Her research is focused on 3D scanning of the collections using mainly photogrammetry and structured light. She is also involved with multispectral imaging (2D and 3D). She has been involved in many digitization projects (AGORA3D, DIGIT03, 3DSpectral, DiSCCo-Fed) and has been active in international networks (COSCH, SYNTHESYS3, SYNTHESYS+). Additionally, she is currently working toward a PhD entitled: “Spectral 3D: setting up an affordable method and analyzing the benefits of 3D multispectral for heritage” under the supervision of Pierre Hallot and Dimitri Laboury.
Research interest: Photogrammetry, structured light, 3D scanning, multispectral imaging, collection management, archaeology, data mining
