Maxime Coq

Maxime Coq is an architect who graduated from the University of Liège in 2018. He collaborated with Binario architects, contributing mainly to projects involving architectural interventions on existing or protected heritage. He is currently a teaching and research assistant at the Faculty of Architecture of ULiège, where he works under the supervision of Professor Claudine Houbart.

 

At the crossroads of architectural history, rhetoric, and semiology, his research critically examines the narratives and semantics embedded within post-modernist projects commissioned by The Walt Disney Company, with a particular focus on the EuroDisney resort (now Disneyland Paris) as a key episode in late post-modernism. Drawing on Gérard Genette’s literary and narratological theories, he develops counter-historiography of post-modernism—grounded in micro-historical methods such as oral history and archival research on underrepresented actors—that explores the interplay between corporations (particularly The Walt Disney Company), narrative, authorship and architectural meaning.
