Revive Heritage

Named Revive Heritage for its fifth edition, this intensive workshop aims to confront students in the "Knowledge, Conservation and Restoration of Heritage" option with a topical issue related to heritage. For two full weeks, the students study a site whose future is in question, in dialogue with all the actors concerned, and propose very diverse scenarios for valorization in order to stimulate and feed the debates. Inaugurated in 2014 with a study of the Collegiate Church of the Holy Cross, thus contributing to the follow-up of its inscription on the "Watch list" of the World Monuments Fund, the workshop focused on cases as diverse as the former cinema "La Comète" (Liège, 2015), the former Institute of Anatomy of the University of Liège (2016), the Château de Franchimont (2017), the church of the Grand-Séminaire de Liège (2018) and the remains of the Aubecq Hotel (2019). The 2020 workshop, which was supposed to be dedicated to the Observatory of Cointe (Liège), has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus crisis. The 2021 edition, which will also be the last, will be organized in collaboration with UHasselt (Master Adaptive Reuse), TU Eindhoven and Bergiche Universität Wuppertal. It will focus on the conversion of an industrial district in the city of Wuppertal.
