Sennefer3D

The project aims to finalise the study of Theban Tomb (TT) 96A, an imposing funerary memorial to the governor of the royal residence of Thebes Sennéfer during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep II (ca 1422 - 1395 BCE), by analysing the evolution of this monument and the pictorial practices attested to there, with the help of a photogrammetric survey (including geomatic processing) and a multi-spectral examination of its decoration. In doing so, on a methodological level, the project aims to develop a new way of documenting and publishing archaeological monuments of this type that allows geometric and colorimetric control (as if the observer were in the monument, but under optimal, homogeneous and controlled lighting conditions), with a device for semantic annotations directly on the 3D model (GIS) and accessible - at least partially - online. This project is part of the Archaeological Mission belege in the Theban Necropolis MANT which is a collaboration since 2010 between the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the University of Liège under the aegis of the Ministry of Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The project is conducted in collaboration with the Egyptologist Dr. Dimitri Laboury. The project received the support of the FSR-SH and the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Liège. This archaeological mission is also an opportunity for doctoral student Aurore Mathys to test the portable multispectral survey method she is developing in real field conditions.
