Coudenberg-SIA

The Coudenberg-SIA project is conducted in collaboration with the Geomatics Unit. The project aims at the three-dimensional modelling of the Coudenberg archaeological site and museum and the development of an archaeological information system linked to the model. The project concerns the 3D modelling of the archaeological site and museum of the Coudenberg in Brussels and the development of an archaeological information system linked to the model. Both tools are scalable, multifunctional and connected to each other. The project consists of seven consecutive tranches. The acquisition of the data leads to the realisation of a realistic and high-precision three-dimensional digital survey of part of the archaeological site and the Coudenberg Museum. This three-dimensional model is designed as a research support for carrying out a scientific study, as an interface for accessing a multitude of information of various types archived in the AIS or for designing tools and/or documents for mediation purposes, and as a recording medium for conservation monitoring data. AIS is designed above all as an interface to interact with the 3D model, a database allowing access to and visualization of a large amount of information of various types and formats (texts, photographs, plans, iconography...) and specifically archaeological and historical information. The AIS is both a spatio-temporal referencing tool and a support for archiving and monitoring of the archaeological site and the museum, enabling the state of conservation and in situ interventions to be monitored. The first stages of the project have already been completed and a working prototype has already been developed. Innovative exploitations and developments are in progress.
