Manon D'haenens
Manon D’haenens is a contemporary art & paintings conservator and restorer (MA, ESA Saint-Luc Liège, 2012) and Ph.D. candidate in Art & Art Sciences at the University of Liege within the European Center of Archaeometry and Ecole Supérieure des Arts Saint-Luc of Liege (member of URi Art, Archéologie, Patrimoine). She is particularly interested in conservation management of contemporary art collections both as a freelance collections consultant and in her research work. Her Ph.D. thesis’ subject concerns the conservator’s role within contemporary art collections. With the aim of practically analysing the contribution of conservation, her research focuses on the organisational analysis of collections, conservation practices, the position of the curator-restorer profession and their links with contributing to the shaping of heritage for works of art, collections and society. She also shares her experience during lectures in ULiège and holds a lecturer position at the Conservation Department of ESA Saint-Luc about professional practices, preventive conservation, museum integration and management. She is active in professional research and development as member of IIC, ICOM-CC, INCCA and INCCA-f and as president and co-founder of the Belgian association SHAKE in Conservation (Sharing Knowledge and Experience in Conservation).
